Ballard by Ellisbridge
Few weeks ago, I decided to do a little post about a bridge from my home city Ahmedabad, the 124 year-old Ellisbridge. For the past few years, it has been declared an urban monument, and flanked by two functional bridges on either site. But I could not find my old pictures of the bridge, so I put up a little message on facebook, hoping for a response from friends back home. An old school friend, Shalibhadra, was kind enough to send me some great photographs. However things got busy and I got no time to do the post.
Until today, when I heard that J. G. Ballardpassed away, supremely inspiring, and whom I continue to discover. This is my little tribute to him. I still remember that day when I was sitting behind in the car reading High Rise (probably my first Ballard book), as my dad drove us home from my grandmother's house in Baroda. As we drove past the bridge, I put the book down. We were nearly home.
RIP J. G. Ballard.
